The main focus of the Certified Karoo Meat of Origin scheme is to certify the origin of lamb as from the Karoo. The mark brings into play “origin based certification” but this origin – the Karoo – has a free range, wholesomeness and pristine identity.
The Karoo region presents images of windmills, sheep farms, endless vistas, hospitality and wholesome food. The region is famous for its sheep meat with its distinct taste and texture that derives from grazing on indigenous Karoo veldt vegetation.
There is now a true fully traceble protocol for the scheme which Ryan Boon is very proud to be part of.
